Frequently Asked Questions
Birth & Postpartum Doula Support
💡A birth doula is a trained professional who can provide you with physical, emotional, and educational support before, during, and immediately after labor. I help you prepare for birth, support you through contractions, offer comfort techniques, and ensure you feel empowered in your choices. Whether you’re planning an unmedicated birth, epidural, or C-section, my role is to help you feel calm, confident, and supported.
💡 A midwife’s medical care includes well-woman visits, prenatal care, catching babies, and monitoring your health. A birth doula provides non-medical support. I focus on helping you build confidence in your abilities, informing you about your options, and supporting your emotional well-being throughout pregnancy and birth. We work alongside midwives, doctors, and nurses to ensure you feel heard, empowered, and fully supported.
💡 A postpartum doula often provides hands-on support during the fourth trimester to help you adjust to having a newborn. I offer practical help (like newborn care tips and time for you to engage in a self-care activity: like a long, uninterrupted shower, bath, or nap), emotional reassurance, and evidence-based guidance to help you feel more confident and less overwhelmed. Consider me a friend with the professional training needed to support you through the physical and emotional transition of early parenthood.
💡 Absolutely! Doulas are for all types of births—medicated, unmedicated, vaginal, or C-section. I help you feel informed about your options, provide comfort measures before and after an epidural, and offer emotional and physical support if you’re having a planned or unplanned C-section. Every birth deserves compassionate support.
💡 Not at all! Your partner knows you best, and my role is to enhance your partner’s support, not replace it. Many partners appreciate having a doula because I help them give effective support through physical comfort measures and emotional encouragement. We work together as a team to help you feel fully supported.
💡 Doula support is a deeply personal, time-intensive service, and pricing reflects the level of expertise, care, and availability I provide to each client. My birth-only and planned cesarean support options are more affordable than my full-service packages, which include three prenatal visits, continuous labor support, and a postpartum visit.
Because I offer personalized, 1:1 care and limit the number of clients I take each month, I encourage you to schedule a consultation so we can discuss your needs and find the best support option for you.
Insurance Options: Some private insurance companies reimburse members after birth. Please note: I do NOT accept Carrot coverage.
Medicaid currently covers prenatal, birth/cesarean, and postpartum/loss doula support.

Childbirth, Newborn & Postpartum Education
💡 Hospital classes tend to focus on hospital policies rather than your options and comfort. My classes help you feel prepared, informed, and confident to navigate your options, make decisions that align with your birth preferences, and advocate for yourself.
💡 My newborn care classes cover the essentials, including diapering, soothing techniques, safe sleep practices, feeding basics, and understanding newborn cues. You’ll leave feeling more prepared and confident in caring for your baby from day one.
💡 Postpartum recovery is about more than just physical healing— emotional well-being, adjusting to life with a newborn, and giving yourself grace. I provide realistic, evidence-based guidance on what to expect, how to care for yourself, and how to build a strong support system for a smoother transition. I also offer a Postpartum Care class so you can fully prepare for the weeks after your baby is born.
💡 Yes! Virtual classes offer the same personalized, evidence-based education in a convenient format. You’ll still have interactive learning, Q&A opportunities, and practical demonstrations—just from the comfort of your home.
💡 The ideal time is around 28-32 weeks, so you have time to absorb the information and practice techniques before labor. But if you’re earlier or later in pregnancy, it’s never too soon or too late to prepare! You can take a class on Postpartum Care anytime before labor or a planned cesarean.
Perinatal Mental & Emotional Wellness
💡 Perinatal emotional wellness coaching is a non-clinical, supportive approach designed to help you navigate the emotional changes commonly experienced during pregnancy and postpartum. Unlike therapy (which diagnoses and treats mental health conditions), I provide practical tools, emotional support, and guidance to help you feel more balanced, prepared, and confident during this transformative time. As a Postpartum Support International PMH-C Allied Professional and Survivor Moms Companion (SMC) Tutor, I have the advanced training and credentials to support women experiencing the most common complication of pregnancy and childbirth.
💡 It’s normal to feel emotional after birth, but if you’re experiencing persistent sadness, anxiety, irritability, intrusive thoughts, or difficulty bonding with your baby, knowledgeable support is even more essential. You don’t have to go through it alone—reaching out for support is a sign of strength. I can provide guidance, resources, and referrals to help you feel like yourself again.
💡 Some of the best ways to prepare include:
✔️ Learning what to expect (knowledge reduces fear).
✔️ Practicing mindfulness and relaxation techniques.
✔️ Building a strong support system.
✔️ Having a postpartum plan (not just a birth plan!).
✔️ Giving yourself permission to rest and adjust.
I help guide you through these steps so you feel emotionally prepared and empowered.
💡 Yes. If you had a previous birth that left you feeling unheard, afraid, or overwhelmed, I offer trauma-informed support to help you process, heal, and move forward with confidence for your next birth experience.
💡 You don’t have to wait until things feel overwhelming to seek support. Through emotional wellness coaching, I provide a safe space to talk, learn coping strategies, and prepare for the mental and emotional shifts of pregnancy and postpartum. If you need additional help, I can also connect you with trusted mental health professionals.
