Frequently Asked Questions

We try to anticipate questions you might have about massage therapy and provide the answers here. If you need additional information send email to info@tranquiltouchforwomen.com.
1.

Where will my massage session be conducted?

Your session will be held in a private office setting at our location at 33425 Grand River Ave. Suite 102 Farmington, MI 48335

2.

Do I have to be undressed during my massage?

Typically, you would be left alone in the treatment room to remove all clothing with the exception of your underpants. The therapist will wait in another room while you get on the table beneath the sheets.

During your massage you will be fully covered as the therapist only uncovers the area being massaged at the time.

There are occasions when disrobing is not necessary:

If the client is very uncomfortable with removing all her clothing, she may undress to the point of comfort and the therapist will alter her massage to accomodate the client's needs in this way.

During Trigger Point or Craniosacral Therapy, the client should remain fully clothed in comfortable clothing.

If the client is coming for a massage treatment of only the hands and feet, she may remain fully clothed.

3.

I have never had a massage and I don't know what I like.  How will my therapist help me?

When you call to make your appointment, you can tell our therapist that you have never received massage before.  She will be more than happy to listen to your concerns and answer any questions you might have about your upcoming session.   She will also be happy to discuss the different types of massage that she offers so that you can decide what would best suit your desired outcome.

You may be able to schedule a short office consultation free of charge by contacting our therapist at (866) 384-1734.

At your first session, you will be given a physical history chart to complete.  This is necessary because it will allow the therapist to be aware of any conditions that may be affected by your session.  Your desired outcome for the session will also be discussed.  At that time, your therapist will discuss with you different oils, lotions or creams that may be used, whether or not you would like aromatherapy essential oils included in your session, and what kind of pressure you would like.

Whether you are interested in relaxation massage or a more therapeutic session for health benefits, your therapist will do everything she can to make sure that you understand the treatments and outcomes that are possible.  She will be your partner in health, working with you to encourage your body to benefit from the massage session.

4.

I have a particular CDor music on my MP3 that I like to relax to, can I bring it to my massage session?

Certainly!  This is your time and you may bring any kind of music that can help you achieve the best outcome from your session. (Sessions held with Exie use MP3 only)

5.

Can my massage be covered by my health insurance or Medicare/Medicaid?

Due to current changes in the health insurance industry we are not able to bill insurance companies for massage therapy.

Some health insurance companies or Health Savings Accounts will reimburse the client if the client submits a receipt for services, however, this would have to be determined by the client and payment in full would be required for each massage session.

6.

I have read that I should look for a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, what does that mean?

National Certification through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork shows that your massage therapist has demonstrated both competency and the pledge to uphold NCBTMB's Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.  This is the standard used to regulate massage therapists in many states.

For more information please visit www.ncbtmb.com

Alternatively, many massage therapists now choose to take the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx) given by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB).  This is an exam that also demonstrates a therapist's broad spectrum knowledge and compentency to enter the massage profession.
